Nursing and midwifery is open to all, including men, one in 10 nurses are men and this is rising.

There are lots of different specialisms in nursing and midwifery:

You start by training as one of the following:

  • Adult nurse
  • Child/paediatric nurse
  • Learning disability nurse
  • Mental health nurse
  • Midwife
  • Nursing associate (higher level nursing apprenticeship)

And you can go on to one of many specialisms, including:
